The fetal stages of the band Slipknot began way back in 1993 in the basement of Paul Gray under the name Painface (A name written in the cassette tapes by Shawn Crahan, and a name that Anders Colsefni later re-used). Although the band did not assemble under the title Slipknot, the group had the aggressive feel you’d expect from Anders Colsefni, Shawn Crahan, Paul Gray and Patrick Neuwirth. During this early period the songs “Slipknot”, ”Gently”,”Idiot”, ”What’s Wrong” and “Wise Up” were recorded, later to be known as “The Basement Sessions”. Unfortunately Shawn got too busy with his parents’ rental work, Anders and Paul lost interest and formed other bands and Patrick decided to focus on his welding job, it was just some little jam session that did not last.
