    William M. Harris, Sr.

    William M. Harris, Sr. is Martin Luther King, Jr. Visiting Professor of Urban Studies and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is former professor and chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Jackson State University. A graduate of Howard University (Bachelor of Science in physics) and the University of Washington (Master’s and Doctorate in urban planning), Professor Harris teaches classes in planning theory and professional ethics. His research interests focus upon the areas of inner city African American economic development and citizen empowerment. He has taught at the University of Washington, Portland State University, the University of Virginia, Virginia State University, Cornell University, and Jackson State University.
